Points of engagement are not the same for different audiences of people. Consider that individuals apprehend their world through different cultural, personal, and moral lenses. For example, a war veteran who attends a military museum will have most of the information in the museum internalized. The same will not be true for a child. The point of engagement is different for people of different backgrounds and experiences. Additionally, museums face a unique problem in that their audiences are generally self-selected. Our challenge is to engage audiences outside of these boundaries. Some seek adventure, while others seek verification. An experience that purports to be transformative may be enticing to some but would not be seen as being reinforcing to others.
